Part of the 2017 Cortland Rep Theatre season, a firm fan favorite is coming to Syracuse this month! The story of Ren, who moves to the Midwest, is perfect for summer family audiences as Ren finds a way to bring dancing back to a conservative town. Songs include "Holding Out For A Hero", "Let's Hear if For The Boy" and "Almost Paradise". Based on the 1984 movie that catapaulted Kevin Bacon to stardom, the popular musical has already seen success in the States on tour!
When city teen Ren moves to a small American rural town, he believes that his life is over. However, he is not banking on the fact that the local minister of Bomont has completely outlawed rock music and even dancing! Faced with a boring existence, Ren alleviates his boredom by sneaking into abandoned buildings to dance his heart out. However, it turns out that he's not alone in wanting to change things for the town's teens as he meets Willard and Ariel, the minister's daughter and falls in love! But he faces more than just the council's opposition to dance, in the form of Ariel's abusive boyfriend Chuck....
